KILL TEAM!!!

Or, as ill probably be playing it Vassal-team till i build my rough riders that have been sitting in the box for 2 years =)

So... here's the idea for the list

Wizemans Penal Scout Force

Vet Squad (10)

+Power Weapon

+Plasmagun

+Grenade Launcher

+Autocannon

Ratling Squad (3)

Rough Rider Squad (5)

+Melta Bombs

Thoughts for the 3 USR's? maybe relentless on the hvy weapon and FNP on the Plasmagun? leaves 1 more.... Prefered Enemy on the Roughrider sarge? or Furious charge to make that Lance STR 6 and INIT 6?

hell.. Turbo Boosters on a horse? hehe

Feedback welcome

Slow updates...

So, updates have been pretty non exsistant lately, sorry about that. ive been keeping myself busy in life lately and just got back to painting this week. got a meatball tray full of 25 guardsmen that ive started basecoating and i went through and based alot of my metal guard figures ready for undercoating some day when the weather is nice. oh, also finished alot of the little bits i had to do on the second russ before i undercoat that too, just need to do a weapon swap on the sentinal ive built and build my second!

hopefully have some group pics up soon of where im at with the force.

a fork in the road...

So...

i have reached a point with my guard army where im thinking of two quite differant army lists, both using the models i have as a base but each going thier own way.
the first being a highly mobile army with a few differant transports and deployment options which i know will do well vs my friends i play against or the second is a much more static guard gun line army with a good use of orders and many heavy weapons it should do well enough for me... still have a few go out and grab units for objectives.

So.. a choice lays before me.. play a army i know will win or play a army i think i will enjoy more? at the end of the day i like winning games but if after the 3rd or 4th game vs a close mate they are sick of facing my army then it isnt fun for both of us.

what do you think? play the ball breaker list and force your friends to up thier game? or play the lesser list to make it more of a challenge?

First Look...

So... thought i would give you a first look at my Guard army, Like I've said before.. I'm not a great painter and if i can manage to paint a couple of thousand points of guard to this standard ill be very happy.
Wizeman's Penal Interplanetary Expedition (PIE)
This is a new paint scheme for my guard, mainly taking advantage of the foundation paints and the washes. I was going to do thier armour in a scab red colour but after trying to get a decent coat of red on 1 figure for way too long last year i decided to avoid the colour.
About a month ago i was chatting with a friend about the guard and said id like to sit down and start getting some painted so i can stop playing marines for a while. while i was thinking about the army in general i thought about the bases and realized i wanted to go for a desert/barren look rather than the urban look i was trying for my marine force. so that added a nice bleached bone colour to the palette and made me think of doing the armour in a more desert camo colour which ended up being this sort of tan/brown colour.
Hope you like the look of the scheme anyway.. it was pretty simple to do and very quick which im sure anyone who has a painted guard army will know is a very very nice thing.
Ill have to post the fluff about the force up soon, why its a bunch of criminals, who im fighting against most the time and maybe even how the idea began for the force and how i inherited it.
In the mean time. For the Emperor!

Welcome

Hello and welcome to my new blog, a simple mans thoughts, ideas and rantings about the world of table top wargaming.

A little about me..
I started playing a game called Necromunda many years ago and enjoyed it greatly.. since then Ive been hooked on most of games workshops products and have been playing them for the last 15 years.

I'm more of a 'gamer' than a painter.. I've always struggled to find time to paint the mountain of models I've collected over the years.. online games, family and girlfriends getting in the way of a highly addictive hobby.

This blog is hopefully going to chronicle my journey through getting at least one of my 40k army's painted and musing over current news within the 40k scene.

Peace.. Stewie
